Alright, I’m closing out the year with a recap of the year as part of an Author Blog Hop. So let’s see what comes out…
What happened to me in 2013:
Not much. I got a job! I wrote a lot! I was too lazy to bother looking for a man! And I obviously learned how to use a lot of exclamation marks!
Alright, for real: I released my first book, Heiress of Healing, the first in a series called Heiress of the Seven Cities. I’m currently working on editing the next two books in the series, which were originally a single monstrous 900-page book. I hope to have at least one if not both out before the end of the year… though it’s looking more like January unless someone miraculously presents me with perfect covers and I suddenly become super fast at editing. I also had my first interview as an author!
In my personal life, I kept my three cats alive, and myself, too, so far. That’s about it. Yeah.

These cats mean business. This is what happens when you play a video with angry cats hissing. Your own congregate around you ready to teach you a lesson…
Anyway, the Blog Hop. I was tagged by Deb E Howell and how it works is I answer the four blog hop questions in my blog, which I will link to Deb’s answers on her blog. Then I tag five random authors to continue the hop…
So, my answers:
What are you writing?
I’m currently writing a sort of dystopian called Try to Control Us where the Coalition (the government) genetically alters an entire city of people and cuts them off from the rest of the world. In the backdrop is a mysterious plague that killed off two-thirds of the world’s population fifteen years before, almost all the trees have died, and people are breathing thanks to oxygen generators. Because of this, everyone lives under a strict regime. No one is allowed to dance, run, or even have sex without permission. So it’s a totally new thing for me to write and so far it’s tons of fun, but mainly because I’m totally in love with one of the main love interests…
Here’s the rough version of the current cover (though the final version will probably look completely different from this!):
How does this differ from your last work?
Ooh, this is a totally different world, for one. More modern / futuristic where my others are sort of medieval fantasy. So steel and skyscrapers and artificial light compared to stone and castles and candlelight. The characters are their own people (as I hope most of my characters are), one of them sarcastic, cynical and feisty and the other quiet and tolerant, but she ends up being pretty kick-butt (hopefully :o))
Why do you write?
Why do I exist?
I’ve been writing and living in other worlds ever since I can remember. My characters play out their lives in my mind and I just let them romp around because it’s so much fun. Plus, I love to play with words.
What is your process?
Process? Does such a thing exist?
Actually, my process is I see a scene, I write that scene, I let the characters unfold the story from there, and when I think I’m about halfway through, I start looking for answers to the twenty-odd questions that have come up. It’s lots of fun actually. Sometimes I’ll be brushing my teeth and suddenly have an epiphany and I’ll go dashing into the bedroom to jot it down. The running human freaks the cats out a bit but it steels their nerves.
Of course, some procrastination is involved…
…and naturally real life intrudes with things like having to actually eat and sleep and work.

Alrighty, that’s all the questions! Anyone wanting to know more feel free to comment or e-mail me at sonylakadosch@yahoo.com. Now I have to see if I know five other authors to tag. The chase is on! Whoo hoo! Plus, the family is ready to go Christmas shopping and I’m the evil one holding them up. Bad Sonya.
